thoughts on Fluid licensing and GPL

Hi Sheila,
A couple of quick thoughts while I think about this some more.
Sakai does not view GPL licensed code as compatible because of (I
think*) the GPL incompatibility with Apache. However, GPL version 3
*is* compatible with Apache 2.0:
http://gplv3.fsf.org/wiki/index.php/Compatible_licenses#GPLv3-compatible_licenses
Of course, that does not necessarily mean that GPLv3 is compatible with
ECL 2.0.
(You may already know this) Sakai's licence compatibility page lists all
of the licences that are compatible. However, it does not mention the
GPL, which is the reason for my "I think" asterisk above.
That page does list LGPL2.2 as compatible, with a warning. The details
of the "packaging requirements" are here:
http://issues.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/LIC/LGPL2.1
Is there a reason for not considering licensing fluid components under LGPL?
